Materials & care

A little care keeps handmade pieces looking their best. Materials change from one collection to the next, so the fabric for a piece is listed on its product page. Here is the general guidance.

Materials

Each piece is made from fabric chosen for that collection, so materials vary. The exact fabric for a piece, such as canvas, linen, or quilting cotton, is noted on its product page where it applies. Anything that needs special care is called out there too.

General care

As a rule, gentle is best. Wash less often than you might think, spot clean when you can, and let pieces air dry out of direct sun. Always follow the care note on the product page first, since it is specific to that piece.

Care by piece

Totes, pouches, wristlets
[PLACEHOLDER: care for bags, e.g. Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, or machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and lay flat to dry. Reshape while damp, and avoid wringing.] Heavy or sharp contents can wear the fabric and stitching over time, so pack with a little care.
Quilts
[PLACEHOLDER: care for quilts, e.g. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, wash separately the first few times, and tumble dry low or lay flat.] A quilt is made to be used and washed, and softens beautifully with time.
Dog bandanas
[PLACEHOLDER: care for bandanas, e.g. Machine wash cold and lay flat or tumble dry low, and iron on low if needed.] A dog bandana is an accessory, not a safety or restraint device, so please supervise your pet while one is worn.

A note on handmade fabric

Fabric is a natural material. Weave, texture, and where a print falls vary from piece to piece, and slight variation is part of what makes each one its own. It is a feature of handmade work, not a flaw.
